Back in 1997, It was enough for Prince of Wales to come once to Romania and he felt in love with it. Along with „Mihai Eminescu Trust Foundation” that he owned, Prince of Wales participated to the rebirth of the Saxon villages in the area. In villages like Viscri, Floresti, Crit or Malancrav, Prince Charles discovered hundred years old houses which he rehabilitated, trying to bring back the charm of the centuries that passed over them. Any can have the chance now to see and live in some of Prince Charles’ favourite houses.
Prince Charles discovered in Romania what the West had lost – still living rural culture, virgin forests, people who still keep their old habits, organic food. The foundation he owned brought to life villages which had fallen almost into ruin after the massive exodus of the Transylvanian Saxons. The communities in Viscri or Malancrav got back to life. It's surely a delight to walk around these villages, among geese and ducks, under the vigilant gaze of the village’s old women who stand on the benches in front of their houses, always ready to talk to you, but also offer you special conditions of accommodation and meal nowadays.
